The following sites constitute just a small portion of the total public housing complexes found in New York City.  The houses in this project are old enough to potentially be eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. While the Smith and Baruch Houses have already been deemed eligible for nomination, the other three sites have either no determination or have been determined as not eligible (though SHPO has said that this could change based on more extensive research). We have prepared a short history and description of each site to help understand and determine the importance each site holds on the Lower East Side.
